The Oakbank Oil Co. Ltd. A 2ft 6in guage electrified system, some two miles in length, serving shale mines north of Winchburgh and a refinery east of the village. Loco No.4, a steeple cab built by English Electric in 1927, stood near its shed in a leafy setting at Winchburgh Refinery on 12th May 1956. The line closed early in 1961.
When the oil works closed, the office building was to become the second home of '1232' (1964 - 2005).
