Minutes – 30th March 1920

A meeting of masons interested in the formation of a new Lodge in this district was held in Bridgend School this evening. Thirty eight members being present, Brother Andrew Wright in the chair.

The chairman in opening the meeting remarked on the need for a Lodge in this district owing to the distance to the neighbouring Lodges and the want of suitable travelling facilities.

Brothers Davidson, Gray and Sneddon reported on their meeting with Bro. Matthew Cowan, Provincial Grand Secretary, regarding information as to commencing a new Lodge.

After some discussion it was agreed unanimously to petition Grand Lodge for a Charter of Constitution and Erection.

Bro. Archibald Knox was appointed interim secretary.

It was agreed that every Brother, on signing the petition should pay a minimum fee of ten shillings.

Agreed to meet on 13th April 1920 to appoint the proposed office-bearers and name the Lodge.

Bro. Andrew Wright was at that time the Headmaster of Bridgend School and he was to become the first Right Worshipful Master of Lodge Hopetoun St. John No. 1232.
